Sheri Donahue was born in a small working-class town outside of Louisville in a home that her parents still live in today.
Sheri received her BS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and currently serves on the Purdue Engineering Alumni Association Board of Directors. She has used her expertise and dedicated her career to fighting government waste, fraud, and abuse.
Sheri spent 20 years working for the U.S. Navy and served as Program Manager for Security & Intelligence. During her time working with government, she worked with Intelligence and related projects for the Navy, Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security.
Sheri has most recently spent her career working as Cyber Security Strategic Partnerships Director for Humana’s Enterprise Information Protection Department where she worked to improve Humana’s cybersecurity. She facilitated effective communication with external agencies, including those in the federal government.
As President & Executive Director for the Cyber Conflict Studies Association, Sheri worked with government, private corporations and academia to study cyber threats and solutions for the next generation. Later, she worked in automating the Incident Command process for healthcare facilities around the country as the Director of Customer Support for a start-up technology company, DisastersNet, for whom she developed their training and implementation program.
As an expert in public-private partnerships, Sheri has written articles for the Domestic Preparedness Journal and has been interviewed for Emergency Management Magazine. She has received awards and recognition from the U.S. Army, Navy, and FBI. She is the 2015 recipient of the first annual InfraGard National Members Alliance “Lifetime Leadership Award” and currently serves on the KY InfraGard Members Alliance Board of Directors as the Sector Chief Coordinator.
Sheri is committed to community engagement and charitable involvement. Some of the many organizations in which she has been involved are the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, Intelligence and National Security Alliance, iKeepSafe Coalition, Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk, Michel Vital Foundation, and the American Heart Association.
Sheri’s proudest title is mother. As a single mother, she knows the struggle of so many women across Kentucky to balance home and career. Her son, Ryan, is a 2018 graduate of UK. In her spare time, Sheri enjoys boating on the many beautiful lakes across Kentucky. Sheri resides in Jefferson County.
